We will gather to listen to a recorded teaching on Death and Dying given by Khentrul Lodroe Thaye Rinpoche. The teaching was given to a practice group in Connecticut during a powerful time when a beloved sangha member was dying. In it, Rinpoche addresses the Buddhist perspective on death and dying, explains the dissolution stages of the physical body and consciousness, and gives advice on the environment and what practices can be done at that time.

Please RSVP: Supplementary handouts will be provided and we would like to know how many folders should be prepared at least one week in advance. These folders will include Buddhist resources to promote our study and exploration of the Buddhist view regarding the time of death. As well, it includes articles and other resources pertaining to making better end-of-life medical choices based on the American healthcare system.

Suggested donation $10.
No one will be turned away due to lack of funds.

Longchenpa (1308 - 1364)

Khentrul Rinpoche will expound upon these words of the great & omniscient master Longchen Rabjam: "Turn the mind toward the dharma; turn the dharma into the path; pacify confusion with the path; & cause the appearances of confusion to arise as timeless awareness."

We are very fortunate to be able to host Khentrul Lodrö Thayé Rinpoche. Rinpoche spent more than twenty years studying at several of the most renowned Buddhist monasteries in Tibet and India. Acknowledged as a scholar of the highest level, he twice received the title of Khenpo (equivalent to a Doctor of Philosophy). Khentrul RInpoche is the Abbot of Mardo Tashi Choling in Eastern Tibet, where he established a retreat center and shedra (institute of higher philosophical studies), overseeing the education and spiritual practice of more than 300 monks, retreatants, and children.

Khentrul Rinpoche came to the United States in September of 2002, at the invitation of His Eminence Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche, who requested that he start a program for studying Tibetan Buddhist philosophy and meditation in a traditional way (known as a shedra). This shedra program consists of profound, authentic teachings and continues to take place in the fall of each year. Khentrul Rinpoche has established his own non-profit organization, Katog Choling, to support dharma activity in the West. He has also created a serene retreat center in Arkansas called Katog Choling Rit'hröd (Rit'hröd means mountain retreat center). You can find more information about Khentrul Rinpoche at www.katogcholing.com/rinpoche.php.

Red Tara Om Tare Tam Soha

We are delighted to have Lama Inge return to Dorje Ling to bestow Red Tara empowerment from the Apong Terton Cycle. Red Tara, the swift savioress, is said to be the doorway to bliss and ultimate awareness. Lama Inge will also be giving teachings on the practice of Tsog utilizing the concise English Red Tara sadhana, which is done at Dorje Ling every month in observance of Dakini Day.

Lama Yeshe Zangmo, known as Lama Inge, was born in Germany in 1939 and moved to the United States in 1958. While attending a Green Tara empowerment given by H.H. the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa in 1980, she met her two most influential teachers, H.E. Gyaltrul Rinpoche and H.E. Chagdud Rinpoche. Under Chagdud Rinpoche’s guidance she engaged in a three year retreat, and in 1987 was ordained as a Lama in the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. Since then Lama Inge has been the resident Lama at Chagdud Gonpa Padma Ling in Spokane, Washington and teaches across the country and in Germany.
